Together, we want to promote the idea of socialisation to the wider public, and to this end we are planning a nationwide Socialisation Day. We intend to organise a variety of colourful events in different locations and engage in conversation with interested members of the public.
What is planned for the day of action?
Throughout the day, a range of events on the theme of socialisation will take place across various cities. There’s plenty on offer, from a cycle tour visiting places where the economy is run collectively, to workshops on socialisation, activities and information stands in public spaces, right through to a book launch. In Berlin, several events are taking place, all in the same location, so feel free to pop along to more than one!
Deutsche Wohnen und Co. enteignen, Berlin
Everything for everyone – right?
Let’s have a chat about socialisation! What do you think about converting flats into communal ownership? And should perhaps much more be socialised?
DEUTSCHE WOHNEN & CO ENTEIGNEN (Disapropriate Deutsche Wohnen und Co. ) will be out on the streets at Kotti, in front of the aquarium, on 10 October from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm to have a chat with you. As part of the ‘Everything for Everyone’ alliance, DEUTSCHE WOHNEN & CO ENTEIGNEN is taking part in the Germany-wide Socialisation Day with this campaign.
Come along!
Redscout24, Berlin
Redscout24 invites you to a workshop at the aquarium (Skalitzer Str. 6) from 3 pm to 5 pm. We’ll give you a brief update on the project and then work in small groups on various questions:
a) What does needs-based housing allocation look like in practice? We’ll develop elements of a Redscout24 prototype.
b) How do we intend to implement Redscout24 at a political level? We’ll be developing approaches for practical work in local communities with political groups.
We look forward to seeing you there!
communia, Berlin
The right to socialisation is legally enshrined in Article 15 of the Basic Law. Nevertheless, socialisation and the legal enshrinement of the common good have always been politically contested, and have come under even greater attack since the Federal Government announced in July its intention to use Article 15 to prohibit socialisation at state level under federal law.
This unconstitutional attack shows that the debate on socialisation is gaining ground, and that the interests of corporations and the federal government are under threat. With Article 15, we can finally establish public ownership that is democratically organised and geared towards the common good.
Socialisation means taking what is rightfully ours. This is not merely a legal question. There are numerous examples where, as a society, we organise ourselves and take what is needed in everyday life. The public sector is essential for improving our lives. At communia, we refer to the utopia of a comprehensive public sector in all areas of life as ‘public luxury’.
At communia’s evening event at 7 pm, we will be asking how we can counter the attack on Article 15 and discussing which approaches to socialisation can take us beyond the issue of housing. Which concepts are particularly relevant in the context of the climate crisis, and how can we move forward with them?
Guests:
Sabine Nuss has been working for several years as a freelance author, journalist and podcaster on the topic of socialisation. She has played a key role in shaping the debate and has a deep understanding of the ideology and practice of private property.
Max Wilken works at communia on public-interest approaches in the fields of mobility, industry and energy. Together with communia, he has helped drive forward the discourse on ‘public luxury’.
Timo Laven is a lawyer and an expert on the debate as to whether a ban on socialisation could be constitutional. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the history of Article 15.
Elise Jost will be moderating. At communia, she heads up public relations and social media, and has recently summarised what has happened so far in relation to the attacks on Article 15.
We warmly invite you to join the discussion, broaden your understanding of socialisation, network with others and have your say.

Union für Cultural Commons, Berlin
The event will be held in English. Whispered translation into German will be provided if required.
The Union for Cultural Commons (UCC) proposes that cultural venues be run as commons – organised on a radically democratic basis and open to all. In doing so, it draws, amongst other things, on the book Commoning Art: The Transformative Potential of Commons in Art by Vera Hofmann, Johannes Euler, Linus Zurmühlen and Silke Helfrich. The English edition has just been published and the UCC is organising a booklaunch with Vera Hofmann.
Commoning Art: Activating the Transformative Potential of Commons in the Arts (Set Margins’, 2026; first German edition 2022, published by transcript) distinguishes between three relationships between art and the commons:
Art for the commons, which takes the commons as its subject;
Art as the commons, which challenges ownership and copyright;
and Commoning Art, in which commoning is not a subject but a methodology – the way in which work is carried out, decisions are made, and money and power are handled.
This is where the greatest potential for transformation lies for the authors. In Commoning Art, art is described as an infrastructure underpinned by care, shared responsibility and collective decision-making. The focus is on how cultural work can be sustainably supported with less reliance on the market and the state. The book is available in print and as a free PDF (with the option to make a donation) under a CC BY-NC-SA licence. Reading, copying and sharing are expressly encouraged.

Kesselbambule, Stuttgart
Rally and discussions on socialisation in the transport sector
In order to be able to use our infrastructure in a way that is geared towards meeting people’s needs rather than maximising profit, it must first be placed in public hands so that we can determine its purpose. This is guaranteed by Article 15 of the Basic Law. By applying Article 15 to socialisation, it would be possible to produce more public transport vehicles rather than cars or armaments in the car factories in Stuttgart. Kesselbambule invites you to a rally and discussions on the Neckarsteg in Stuttgart.
What? Rally and discussions to mark Socialisation Day
When? Saturday 10 October 2026, from 3 pm to 5 pm
Where? On the Neckarsteg, from Zanthweg to Bad Cannstatt City Beach, Stuttgart (Stadtstrand Bad Cannstatt)

RWE und Co. enteignen, Duisburg
Information stand calling for the socialisation of energy companies
Does the socialisation of major energy companies such as RWE sound interesting? Then come along to the vigil organised by “Expropriate RWE & Co.” – on 9 October (unlike the other events described here, this is not on 10 October) in Duisburg city centre. There you’ll find out more about the issue. With various quizzes, interesting facts and stimulating discussions. More detailed information on the venue and time will follow.
Together for a fair energy supply!
Karlsruhe
Bike ride to the national Socialisation Day in Karlsruhe
Meeting point: 2.00 pm, MiKa Kulturhaus, Kanalweg 52, Karlsruhe
Whether in co-operatives, community-supported agriculture schemes, open workshops, art collectives or through the collaborative development of free software – many people are already organising themselves into initiatives where they take control of their own lives without relying on large corporations. So far, they have probably been the exception rather than the rule. However, it is becoming apparent that this is changing: that is why we are meeting for the first nationwide ‘Socialisation Day’ organised by the ‘Alles für Alle’ alliance on 10 October 2026 for a cycle tour in Karlsruhe. During the tour, we will cycle to various locations where socialisation is already being practised (to a greater or lesser extent) or where it would still be a worthwhile endeavour. If you are actively involved in such an initiative yourself, you are welcome to present it on the spot.
One thing is clear to us: this first ‘socialisation’ day is just the beginning – a way to highlight the potential of socialisation and to organise ourselves collectively.
PS: The tour will go ahead whatever the weather. The exact route will be announced on KarlsUNRUH in early October:

And if you know of any organisations, projects or initiatives… that might be a good fit for our alliance, please feel free to share this page with them and invite them to get in touch with us. We’ve only just been set up and are still getting started – and we’d love to welcome new people to join us! We currently organise mainly via online calls and a Signal group, which you’re welcome to join on request.
Even if you can’t make it to the socialisation Day, you’re still welcome to join the alliance. We’ll discuss what our work will look like after 10 October following the day of action – and we’d be happy to include you in those discussions.
